Education Review Office (ERO)

The Education Review Office (ERO) is the New Zealand government department that evaluates and reports on the education and care of students in schools and early childhood services.

Education Reviews

ERO’s reports are used by parents, teachers, school principals and trustees, and by government policy makers to monitor the quality of education provided for children and students in individual schools.

Schools are reviewed on average once every three years. Reviews will be more frequent where the performance of a school is poor and there are risks to the education and safety of the students, or less frequent where a school has a stable reporting history and demonstrates good self review processes and use of its assessment information.

St. Patrick’s School was reviewed in term 1 of 2015. The review team commented that:

‘Students learn in a welcoming, inclusive environment in which the Catholic character underpins all operations. They are actively engaged in, and enjoy, their learning. Most students achieve at and above National Standards in reading, writing and mathematics. The school is well placed to further develop, embed and sustain effective practices.’
