Learning Area – Social Sciences

In Social Sciences we want St. Patrick’s students to explore how societies work and how they themselves can participate and take action as critical, informed and responsible citizens.

Global Ideas:

 ·       Have an understanding of the history and tradition of St. Patrick’s school and the Wairarapa.

 ·       Know why the Treaty of Waitangi is important to our school and New Zealand culture.

 ·       Be informed, confident, responsible New Zealand citizens as part of the world society.

·        Recognise the diverse nature of cultures from around the world.

 ·       Understand that living in the present means we have a responsibility to take action for the future.
